I am a very small breeder that occasionally may have puppies or an adult available for adoption. Please be advised that we do NOT ship our puppies and any potential puppy homes are expected to come for a visit to meet us and our dogs in person before being considered as a potential family for our puppies. We carefully interview each family paying special attention to the hopes for the puppy such as performance (Obedience, rally, agility), therapy work, or companionship, as well as your past history with dogs.

We keep in close contact with our extended puppy families to provide education, support, and guidance through the life of the puppy. All puppies will be on a limited registration and will be dual registered with the AKC and CKCSC-USA. They will also be on a spay/neuter contract, no exceptions. Puppies will be expected to be spayed or neutered between 10 months to a year old. When placing puppies, our primary concern is that the puppy is in a safe and loving environment. However, please note that if at any time you are unable to care for or keep your puppy/adult, you must return the dog to the breeder. Lowilani cavalier puppies/adults will always be welcomed back into our home.

Puppies will start to go home around 11-12 weeks of age. We usually train our puppies to use the litter box as it helps them be more successful with potty training. At this age, the puppy will need to relieve itself often, potentially every couple of hours. Therefore, we like to set the puppy up for success by giving him/her the opportunity to go in a designated place until they mature enough to hold it for longer periods of time. Please note that puppies will have accidents and being litter trained does not mean that your puppy is fully potty trained. Therefore, anytime that your puppy does the following, please take your puppy out to relieve themselves:

  • After waking from a nap

  • After eating or drinking

  • After a play session

  • After a walk

  • Anytime that you take the puppy from the crate

  • Anytime a puppy is doing a circular pattern while sniffing or sniffing the floor a lot

Make sure to limit the amount of room that you give a puppy as they are learning to be potty trained. You may use a large crate with a litter pan in it or an enclosed room such as a bathroom or laundry room with a litter pan. As they get older and can hold it for longer periods of time, quickly pick them up and immediately take them outside to the same location to relieve themselves. If they are successful give them lots of praise and positive reinforcement. Please do not punish a puppy if he/she has an accident unless you catch them in the act. If so, quickly say something loudly as a “negative” target to their action or shake some thing that is loud (can of pennys), quickly take the puppy to the proper place to finish relieving themselves and then praise them when they complete the action. There is no need to physically correct or punish a puppy this will only cause the puppy to fear you.

Please ask your vet about their vaccine protocol. We at Lowilani Cavaliers follow the Dodds Protocol. Your puppy will be dewormed and have his/her first set of shots before they go to their new homes. Please review with your vet the state law for the rabies vaccination. Do NOT give more than one vaccine at a time at any vet visit.

When taking your puppy home, you will receive a bag with the following items:

  • A small bag of dog food so you can gradually transition him/her to the food you prefer if different than what we feed

  • Treats and safe chew toys

  • A folder with copies of the Dam and Sire health certifications, the puppy health certificate, and the contract. **We will complete the AKC paperwork online for the limited registration when you arrive. Please be prepared to bring your vet’s name and address with you.

Please ensure to take new puppy to the vet within 72 hours of possession for its first health check. Also, please puppy proof your home before bringing home your puppy. Please ensure that all items you don’t want to be chewed are off the floor and put away. Hide cords, put houseplants out of reach, and keep clothing like socks and children’s clothing away from the puppy as well. Keep doors to rooms you don’t want the puppy to go into closed and keep the puppy in a more restricted area like a kitchen, bathroom, laundry room or crate if they are unattended.

*** Please be advised… I do NOT sell puppies on open registration and I do NOT sell or place any Adults/puppies as breeding stock. I am very protective of the breed and the pedigrees I have been entrusted with. So, please do not ask. Thank you. ***
